Wendy's Dave's Hot and Juicy Cheeseburgers [Review]

You may have recently seen Wendy’s commercials that revived the famous 1984 ad campaign asking a simple question “Where’s the beef?”  Like in 1984, the advertisement would like you to believe that the answer can be found in your neighborhood Wendy’s restaurant.

Back in late 2010, Wendy’s took their first step in revitalizing their declining sales by completely overhauling their French fries for the first time in 41-years (this turned out to be a welcomed change).  For a fast food chain, this alone would be considered a bold and risky move, but we now realize that was only phase one of their makeover.

McDonald's McCafe: Peppermint Mocha and Peppermint Hot Chocolate [Review]

For the longest time McDonald's has been known as fast food juggernaut, but despite their unparalleled success of pumping susceptible and belligerent college kids with the drunk menu (how do small drinks disappear after 11?) and getting the overweight and obese (86% of American according to that ridiculous bmi chart that prob says the Olsen twins are obese) masses to plunk down a couple bucks midday for a quadruple digit calorie lunch, McDonald's certainly has never been confused with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse or the like. But starting with the with the emergence of a high quality Angus Third Pounder, their Fruit and Walnut Oatmeal, and then this summer's weekly dosage of a fancy fruit laced frozen beverage, McCafe, and its vast array of options is McDonald's best attempt yet at making premium items at an affordable price. With hot chocolates, mochas, fruit smoothies, frozen lemonades, McCafe aims directly at the Starbucks and Caribou of the world.

Goodies and Gimmicks Galore transitions to new and improved: Fast Food Geek

It all started on a brisk October night. Goodies and Gimmicks Galore died a slow painful death some time ago. Updates were dropping faster than Netflix subscribers. But as the rag tag group of chums, who had once long ago created the fast food gimmick sight that you all knew and loved, gathered together at the Shadyside, PA Mad Mex location to take in their annual Gobblerito (more on this later), some classic bar room banter emerged.

Mad Mex: Gobblerito [Review]

While the Fast Food Geek idea had just been birthed, I thought to myself, “why don’t we start here and now?” So I did, snapped some photos of the gimmick currently on my plate, and allowed the wheels to start turning…
Thus the Gobblerito review is here. Mad Mex is a regional Mexican food joint in PA and Ohio, known mostly for their huge margaritas (Big Azz) and slightly over priced Mexican food. But one item that catches our attention every year is the seasonal release of the Gobblerito. From late October through Thanskgiving, this genre defying culinary concoction exists. Mad Mex releases it to the masses like a crazed exotic farm owner releasing his zoo into the wild. It basically takes the idea of taking a whole Thanksgiving meal, and stuffing it in tortilla. We’re talking homestyle stuffing, mashed taters, corn, and turkey, cooked to simmering perfection and then encapsulated by their traditional burrito shell. All of this is then lathered in gravy and served with a side of cranberry sauce. It’s like the holiday feast, without your entire kitchen looking like a warzone. The annual Gobblerito feast started in college and now continues on a yearly basis for us, like a pilgrimage to India to find a higher meaning to life, we flock to Mad Mex so we can loosen our belts and engorge our pallets.
